The 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (the “ADA”), as amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, are the civil rights statutes that provide individuals with disabilities equal access to employment, education, state, and local government programs and services, businesses, telecommunications, and public transportation. The regulations implementing these statutes provide guidelines to transportation entities, such as Palm Tran, in which we must make reasonable accommodations/modifications regarding policies, practices, and procedures to avoid discrimination and ensure that our programs are accessible to individuals with disabilities.

All complaints will be investigated promptly. Reasonable measures will be undertaken to preserve any confidential information. Palm Tran’s Customer Service Section and the Office of Equal Opportunity will review every complaint, begin the investigation process, and notify the appropriate parties. The investigation will include, but will not be limited to:
Upon completion of the investigation, the Customer Service Administrator or designee will prepare a final report under the oversight of the Manager of Equal Opportunity. If an ADA violation is found, remedial steps will be taken as appropriate and necessary. Regardless of the investigation results, the Manager of Equal Opportunity will issue and send the complainant a closure letter summarizing the allegations and findings.
