Ivan Maldonado is a proud Army veteran who has solidified a reputation as a senior leader in public transportation, operations and public service for the past 20 years. Mr. Maldonado currently serves as the Executive Director of Palm Tran since July 2024. Palm Tran, a mid-sized transit agency, provides fixed-route and paratransit service to one of the largest counties by land area in the State of Florida. The bus system, using over 400 vehicles travels to every major destination in Palm Beach County, providing more than 7.5 million rides and nearly 1 million paratransit trips annually. Mr. Maldonado is responsible for a $174 million budget, which includes local, state and federal funding.
Mr. Maldonado holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and certifications as a Certified Public Manager, and a Transit Manager Certificate. He also earned a Doctoral degree in Naturopathy, and certifications as a Certified Natural Health Professional, which he uses to provide faith-based, pro-bono consultations. He has also served in ministry oversight, outreach activities towards at-risk populations, and as volunteer chaplain at various correctional institutions.
Mr. Maldonado is happily married and has five children. As a personal hobby, he has competed in state and national track and field tournaments, winning first and second place in discus, shot put and javelin events at the Florida International Senior Games and the National Veteran’s Golden Games.
Mr. Maldonado enjoys serving his community and currently serves as a member of the Florida Safety and Operations Network, and the Florida Public Transportation Association. He has previously served in the following workgroups and committees:
