How to Qualify for Palm Tran Connection

Palm Tran Connection is a shared ride, door-to-door paratransit service available to eligible residents and visitors in Palm Beach County. This service supports individuals who, due to disability, age, or income, are unable to use the fixed-route bus system.

Palm Tran Connection provides transportation under three main programs: 

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Program

This program provides transportation within 3/4 of a mile of a Palm Tran fixed-route bus line and during the same days and hours of service.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must have a disability that prevents you from using the fixed-route bus system. Eligibility is based on your functional ability, not just your diagnosis or use of mobility devices.

How to Apply

  1. Call the Palm Tran Connection Eligibility Department at 561-649-9838 (Option 7) to complete a brief 4-question assessment.
  2. An application will be mailed to you within 2-3 business days.
  3. Complete and return the application.
  4. Wait seven days, then call the schedule your assessment interview.
  5. A Palm Tran representative will conduct a 15-30 minute phone interview to review your application.
  6. A medical verification form may be sent to your healthcare provider if needed.


Fare $3.50 per one-way trip

Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Program

This program is funded by the State of Florida’s Transportation Disadvantaged Trust Fund and offers service throughout Palm Beach County during regular Palm Tran service hours.

Eligibility

You may qualify if you:

  • Have a physical or mental disability,
  • Are low-income and cannot afford transportation,
  • Are age-qualified and dependent on others for travel.

Application Requirements

  • Proof of income, or
  • A physician-completed medical verification form with your application.

Fare: $3.50 per one-way trip

Note: Exact fare is required upon boarding. Failure to pay may result in rescheduling.

Division of Senior Services (DOSS) Program

This program serves individuals aged 60 and older, as funded by Palm Beach County, the Area Agency on Aging, and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Service Hours

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding major holidays)

Fare

  • Free transportation is available to senior centers during pre-assigned appointment times.
  • A fare of $3.50 per one-way trip applies to other trips or non-scheduled destinations.

  • Pahokee Wellness Center – Pahokee
  • Tanner Park Community Center – South Bay
  • Village of Royal Palm Beach/Harvin Cultural Center – Royal Palm Beach
  • West County Senior Center – Belle Glade 

Designated Representatives

If you have a Power of Attorney or wish to assign someone to manage your transportation, you may appoint a Designated Representative. This individual can:

  • Request and complete applications,
  • Schedule or modify trips,
  • Speak with Palm Tran Connection on your behalf.

Be sure to submit documentation if Power of Attorney is involved.
