Fran Nachlas

Palm Tran Transit Champion

Originally from New Jersey and raised in Palm Beach County, City Council Member & CRA Chair Fran Nachlas has been a proud Boca Raton resident since 1996. On November 22, 2022, Council Member Nachlas was appointed to fill the vacancy of the Boca Raton City Council, Seat A, after qualifying unopposed for that position. 

Education and Professional Experience

After graduating from Atlantic High School, Council Member Nachlas earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Florida. For almost 3 decades, she was a Surgical Nurse at the Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery and Laser Center, including time as the Operating Room Manager. In addition, she has held her Florida Real Estate License for over 20 years, and —fun fact—is a former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader, 7-time Boston Marathoner and has completed 3 Ironman Triathlons.

Community Involvement

Council Member Nachlas has served on the Homeowner’s Association Board of The Preserve for over 10 years, most recently as the immediate Past President. She has served as a Board Member on the Boca Raton Community Advisory Panel. She and her family founded the nonprofit organization SafeSun™ over 10 years ago, focused on the prevention, early detection and early treatment of skin cancer. SafeSun™ has donated over $550,000 to help keep the community safe in the sun. Council Member Nachlas is an active advocate for schools, students and education, having served as a member of the Board of Trustees for The George Snow Scholarship Fund. 

In addition, Council Member Nachlas has a long record of hands-on community volunteerism. She has organized a school supply project and donated over 1000 filled backpacks to four different local Title 1 schools, earning a Community Leader Award from The School District of Palm Beach County, participated in beach clean-ups and Community Greening plantings. She is a member of The Rotary Club of Downtown Boca Raton. She is a two-time nominee for both the Junior League’s Woman Volunteer of the Year and Soroptimist Women of Distinction, as well as an AVDA Heart of a Woman Honoree. She and her husband Nathan were awarded the Rotary Club of Boca Raton OPAL Award in 2019.
